The Position

Purchasing Manager

Job Summary

Key Tasks & Responsibilities:

  • Manage the operational and tactical/strategic negotiation of all Raw Material, Packaging, Chemicals & Energy at India level as per Delegation of Authorities (DOA) in accordance with Imerys category strategy, as well as applicable policies, procedures and specifications

  • Consolidation of volume with different requirements of Raw Materials, Packaging, Chemicals & Energy across India

  • Support Procurement & Supply Chain to ensure adequate stock level of materials, and issues related to expediting logistics

  • Frequent visits to supply sources, mines and transshipment points to ensure proper quality and compliance to contractual terms

  • Identification of sources for supply of Raw Materials, Packaging, Chemicals & Energy; market intelligence on availability and price benchmarking

  • Formulate supplier development programs and build relationships with key critical suppliers

  • Conduct comprehensive cost and quality management

  • Act as the point of contact between Plant Purchasing Manager (PPM), Operations Manager (OM) & end users

  • Drive the realization of savings, supply efficiency, quality, and process improvements in line with regional and global strategies

  • Identify saving opportunities and initiate individual projects and initiatives at all operational levels within India

  • Support plant team in pre-qualification of vendors

  • Responsible for effective implementation of Group Internal Controls. Ensure all Controls are in place, by regular monitoring and review mechanism.

Job Specification:

  • Engineering Graduate with Master Degree in Supply Chain Management or Purchasing

  • Experience of 7 to 10 years with Solid relevant Purchasing and Sourcing experience of Raw Material, Packaging, Chemicals & Energy in international environment with similar spend scale 

  • Proven experience in planning and leading complex negotiations 

  • Highly motivated & results focused with the ability to act with a high sense of urgency

  • Ability to operate and execute effectively in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities and challenging deadlines 

  • Thorough knowledge of the categories, markets, regulations & operations in related industries

  • Ability to travel up to 30%

Knowledge, skills and other capabilities:

  • Fluent in English & local languages 

  • Possess strategic and innovative mindset and yet hands-on

  • Effective presentation skills at various levels of management

  • Demonstrate ability to develop relationships & influence key decision makers internally & externally, regionally and globally 

  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
