The Position

Product Manager

Job Summary

As the Global Product Manager for one of our premier minerals, Diatomaceous Earth, you will own, drive, and evolve the product line strategy to maximize profitability of the mineral globally.


  • Lead product manager for this mineral globally; sets strategic roadmap for global growth and profitability.  Directly manage strategy for assets within North & South America.

  • Understand the product marketplace; collaborate effectively with sales & marketing to know the customers & competition and the product strengths and weaknesses, and use this information to define and animate the long term strategy.

  • Understand cost structures and capacities globally for the market to guide decision making

  • Responsible for the optimization and management of product mix and pricing for asset efficiency and maximum value/margin extraction

  • Responsible for proactive management of the product portfolio in order to deliver the profitability goals of the business

  • Drives opportunity assessment, prioritization and business case investment justification, including partnering with purchasing, manufacturing, working with technology leads on asset strategy/investments enabling growth/expansions/optimization

  • Benchmarks competitors’ portfolio offerings and global reach to understand their strategies and cost structures.

  • Participates in S&OP. Secure area-specific supply/demand balance. Understand challenges, determine where reductions or upsides globally need to take place by working with regional counterparts to balance globally.

  • Leads the information collection and direction setting on market fundamentals, pricing tactics, supply demand, etc. on a regular basis to set direction and gain alignment with the commercial organization.

  • Understand raw materials, cost drivers, make vs buy

  • Price-volume management

  • Ensures efficient sharing of information between Operations and Segments within the region and globally on critical issues for product growth and profitability: new product development, Capex, Quality, Regulatory

  • Key interfaces: strong partnership to be built with (i) Segments leadership, (ii) Innovation, (iii) Supply Chain, (iii) Operations; (iv) Purchasing; (v) Finance

Background and experience requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required, MBA preferred

  • Minimum 10 years experience working working in a strategic, product management or marketing related function in a cross functional environment

  • Global experience preferred

  • Strong business & financial acumen

  • Executive level communication & presentation skills

  • Proven ability to influence in a matrix environment
