The Position

Sr. Project Manager

Job Summary

Based in Roswell, Ga, Imerys is hiring an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead and manage large industrial projects from feasibility to implementation.  The Project Manager will be responsible for all project steps (development through commissioning/handover and financial close out) in close relationship with all external and internal stakeholders.  This role will report to the Project Engineering Manager NA.  

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manages in close coordination with all stakeholders, the development and execution of industrial projects (strategic, development, sustenance, safety) across PMA-NA industrial assets.

  • Manages projects from feasibility studies through implementation.

  • Ensures CER (Capex Expenditure Request) dossiers are developed according to Imerys protocols and engineering standards.

  • Defines project execution strategy and contracts with external engineering companies in close coordination with Procurement.

  • Brings engineering expertise when needed, and ensures safe design.

  • Checks compliance to established procedures or protocols, and challenges soundness of various assumptions

  • Manages and coordinates project teams to minimize risk and maximize future results.

  • Efficient project control and reporting, incl. financial control, and taking corrective actions.

  • Provides project leadership and engineering guidance to “make things happen” in accordance with Imerys protocols.

  • Provide budget estimates, validate project costing. Assist in developing project business plans.

  • Coordinate the engineering work and interface with external engineering companies for large scale projects.

  • Ensure the timely achievement of all governmental approvals and permits as needed.

  • Validate the scope of work and equipment specifications.

  • Validate, review, and modify design drawings for construction, such as civil & structural, piping, mechanical, electrical and automation.

  • Prepare technical aspects of tendering documents and bids in cooperation with the purchasing team and internal process experts.

  • Schedule work and monitor the schedule and costs to guarantee project’s timing, work quality, budget, and results.

  • Develop project scopes and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders and ensure technical feasibility.

  • Create and maintain comprehensive project documents, schedule and update project status to Management on a regular basis.

  • Ensure efficient project controls tools (cost, schedule, risk) are in place.

  • Facilitate project decisions, follow up actions and tasks.

  • Project Planning. Monitor and control project cost and schedule.

  • Contract management. Coordinate closely with purchasing.

  • Project risk management.

  • Supervise works and commissioning on-site with a strong focus on EHS and upholding Imerys safety standards.

  • Interface with internal and external engineering groups/ vendors/ subject experts/ governmental agencies.

  • Key interactions: Ensures tight coordination with BA Industrial VP, Regional Operations Directors, Procurement, EHSQ, Project Engineering Manager, and Industrial Projects Director.

 

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelors’ Degree in Engineering, Construction or related field, preferred

  • Minimum 10+ years’ Project Management experience in in a heavy industrial environment

  • Strong expertise and experience in large industrial project management

  • Stage Gate (FEL) methodology experience or PMP.
