The Position

Operations Director - US Clays Hub

Job Summary

The US Clays Hub Operations Director will Lead an operational scope or “Hub” , made of the following operations: Sandersville Calcine and Hydrous Plants, Primary Raw Materials Sourcing Mining Platform, Sandersville and Langley Air Float Plants, and Gleason and Crenshaw Ball Clays Plants to ensure required products are delivered, with zero accidents, on time and within targeted quality standards and cost objectives to optimize customer satisfaction and improve competitive position.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for Environment, Health & Safety across the Hub and ensuring safety best-in-class standards are achieved
  • Manages directly the “home” production site and manages the other production sites’ managers
  • Manages all aspects of operations across the US Clays Hub, incl. Environment, Health & Safety, production, planning, maintenance, warehousing, industrial projects / capex, process improvement, quality, energy consumption optimization and continuous improvement initiatives, in close coordination with Imerys Centers of Excellence (CoE) and BA CoE
  • Ensures products are manufactured and delivered on schedule, and within quality standards and cost objectives 
  • Develops the Hub industrial plan in coordination with BA Industrial VP, BA CoE, BA Business Planning / SC VP and with the support of Imerys CoE
  • Leads Hub operations optimization to address competitiveness / demand requirements, incl. capex execution (debottlenecking, extension), flexibility and reduction of lead-times,  productivity / energy consumption, maintenance, cost reduction / continuous improvement (I-Cube) programs, in coordination with Imerys / BA CoE
  • Responsible for mine balance & implementation of Life of mine plan developed with / by Imerys Geology experts 
  • Key interfaces: ensures tight coordination with BA Industrial VP, BA Business Planning / Supply Chain team, Imerys and BA CoE & Purchasing teams, BA Segments, and is supported by Finance & HR Business Partners

Background & Experience:

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering
  • Excellent Communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in manufacturing management, experience of customer oriented organization
  • Recognized management skills (ability to manage teams across several sites)
  • Good knowledge of all operations aspects (Safety, Production, Quality, Process, Capex…)
  • Demonstrated capabilities of reaching cost reduction and productivity by promoting a continuous improvement mindset
  • Multitasking skills
  • Crisis management
  • Customer oriented mindset 
  • Ability to attract and develop professional teams
