The Position

Human Resources Manager

Job Summary

What we need:

Imerys is hiring a HR Manager for our Lompoc, CA manufacturing plant. You will be accountable for implementing and managing programs, policies and procedures, communications, and other HR activities for the benefit of the Western N America region. 

What you’ll do:

  • Guide/counsel managers and employees on employee relations, performance management and organization issues.

  • Interpret company policies and resolve complaints in a consistent and compliant manner.  Advise and counsel plant management on interpretation issues.

  • Applicant Tracking oversight, and other compliance requirements (to include oversight and auditing of the applicant tracking software package (Workday)

  • Manage end-to-end employment functions from recruiting to termination to include new hire orientation, employment transactions, and termination process for all designated sites. 

  • Manage on-boarding process.  Enable managers to ensure that a new hire’s transition into the company is successful.

  • Process employee terminations by coordinating with managers and payroll, processing paperwork, entering data into Workday in a timely fashion, handling severance agreements, and advising individuals on benefits and COBRA. Manage unemployment insurance requests, appeals and hearings, guiding managers through the process and attending hearings as required. 

  • Support labor relations activity (employee relations, job postings and bidding process, grievance process and resolution, etc.) for designated sites.

  • Maintain HRIS (Workday). This includes data entry, generating reports, auditing data, and maintaining employees.

  • Partner with Site Administrators and Corporate Recruiters to manage the recruiting process for all locations under responsibility, to include advertising, sourcing, candidate interviewing, pre-employment screening (coordinating drug screens and background checks), interviewing agendas, and general pre-hire processing.

  • Coordinate with HR Points of Contact to ensure consistent application of company policies and procedures. Serve as liaison between Corporate HR and the various US locations. Train HR Points of Contact (POCs) on policies and procedures.

  • Recommend new approaches, policies, and procedures to effect continual improvements in the efficiency of the department and the services performed.

  • Manage Job Description database (Intelex). 

  • Partner with Talent Sourcing to support the Internship Program. 

What you have:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources or related field

  • 5+ years of experience in a highly complex and fast-paced HR department.

  • General computer skills, including strong HRIS skills (Workday preferred), Google Suite, and MS office application skills

What you’re good at:

  • Strong interpersonal skills to counsel managers and employees, influence without direct authority

  • Ability to communicate effectively in verbal and written form, as well as strong presentation skills

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with other management staff, employees and the general public.

  • Strong organizational skills, the ability to manage multiple tasks and competing priorities, and time management also required 

  • Ability to maintain professional demeanor at all times and be able to build credibility with all levels within the organization

  • Strong problem solving, conflict resolution skills 

  • Skilled in resourcefulness and working independently

  • Ability to work in a matrixed and highly diverse work environment
