The Position

Commercial Development Manager

Job Summary

Imerys is hiring a Commercial Development Manager for the Paints & Coatings, Adhesives, Caulks & Sealants market who will develop plans and strategies for new commercial opportunities to achieve sales goals.  Based at your home office, you will lead industry research, pricing and growth analysis, creation of strategic presentations, and contract negotiations.

Responsibilities include:

  • Plan, lead and coordinate the sales process from prospect qualification to closing complex deals across a cross functional team.

  • Develop new product ideas and service propositions that help solve customer problems and drive the growth of the business. 

  • Identify opportunities for partnerships and present/demo to potential partners and customers with new products, new markets, new usages of our products

  • Proactively identify and build relationships with clients and effectively leverage internal partners to generate new sales opportunities

  • Work closely with the S&T team and Commercial Sales team to commercialize New Products with test customers.

  • Partner with the team to evaluate and consider options for Intellectual Property that supports and protects the long term growth of the business

  • Game-plan and execute an account strategy to deliver maximum revenue potential

  • Understand the competitive environment at major accounts and be able to predict competitive responses to strategic tactics, i.e. price increases; product offerings

  • Attend industry related conferences

  • Strong ability to build both internal and external relationships.

  • Proactive daily CRM input to manage and organize your pipeline

  • Travel estimated at 60%

  • This role is a true Hunter Role focused on developing new business and new products.  

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Science, Engineering, Chemistry, Advanced degree preferred

  • Minimum 8 years’ progressive experience in sales and business development with a technical product in relevant markets. (Paints, Coatings, Adhesives, Caulks, Sealants)

  • Self motivated with takes an aggressive approach to generating new sales (not afraid to “cold call” customers)

  • Technical and inquisitive approach 

  • Strong project and team management skills to ensure that we effectively mobilize the team around the customer to drive growth.

  • Excellent presentation and communication skills that can adapt across multiple levels of a customer's organization

  • Strong technical skills to understand how our products add value to the customer.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks with minimum supervision

  • Consultative sales approach with a primary emphasis on strong account leadership skills and on converting strategic accounts

  • Ability to plan and coordinate complex sales development with multiple key requirements (technical, economical, contractual, logistics etc…) 

  • Successful US-based candidates must be fully vaccinated for Covid-19 before the employment start date unless exempted by applicable law
  • Ideally located near major airport for travel (Central or East Coast)
