Supply Chain Sr Manager, Bulk Terminals

Job Summary

Job Summary

Based at our North American Headquarters in Roswell, Georgia, Imerys is hiring for a Supply Chain Sr Manager, Bulk Terminals. We offer a hybrid work arrangement with 3 days/week in the office and 2 days/week work from home.


  • Plan and balance the bulk supply chain in accordance with production capacities, customer demand, vessel scheduling and terminal operations to maintain ample inventory at all terminal locations.

  • Predict and maintain a rolling twelve month forecast plan for vessels, an average of 18 vessels per year, in accordance with the Contract of Affreightment.

  • Manage daily terminal activities for all aspects including, but not limited to, vessel operations, vessel and rail demurrage, inventory management, outbound rail and truck shipments, customer service, safety and vendor management.

  • Develop supply chain operational strategies, associated costs and processes to deliver to existing and new customers.

  • Manage the terminal P&L’s and explain variances on costs and inventories. Create annual budgets from the bottom up for all locations. The estimated annual spend is $12M

  • Support the commercial team with cost analysis, inventory projections, shipment discrepancies, and customer focus.

  • Negotiate and maintain contracts and services for terminal operations, transportation and all relevant supply chain functions required for customer supply.

  • Collaborate with and support the supply chain and logistic teams across different sites and business units.

  • Manage the performance of domestic and international carriers and logistics intermediaries.

  • Ensure compliance with international and domestic laws related to import/export activity.

  • Evaluate tradeoffs between transportation cost, inventory cost, service levels and consistent OTIF customer supply.


  • Ensure customer needs are met under everchanging supply situations, while having the ability to manage any unexpected situation that may arise.

  • Responsible for all aspects of receiving, operations planning and distribution/ transportation (Rail / Road / sea export) for the import terminals.

  • Maintain accountability for the supply chain operating budget and relevant freight P&L’s.

  • Capable of managing change, when business and/or operational conditions dictate, while driving improvement into terminal activities.

  • Drive effective team development, collaboration and support through setting and monitoring annual performance plans and cooperative spirit.

  • Accountable for Customer satisfaction through OTIF via suitable transportation equipment.

  • Support terminal partnerships to ensure adherence to budget, business processes, procedures and practices.

  • Work with key leaders/functions within the Corporate and SS Group (Purchasing, Accounts Payable, Safety, Production) to ensure smooth communication and resolve issues.

  • Provide timely and accurate reporting of activities and customer information to meet Imerys reporting requirements

  • Ensure adherence to all Imerys safety and environmental protocols


  • Successful US-based candidates must be fully Covid-19 vaccinated before the employment start date unless exempted by applicable law.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management, Logistics, or Supply Chain

  • Minimum 5 years experience in Supply Chain and Inventory Management experience (International and Domestic)

  • Working knowledge of Bulk Supply Chain and Operations

  • Experience managing vendors

  • Creative problem solving and always available for contact (Nights, Weekends, and Holidays included)

  • Self directed, ability to analyze any situation or risk and act independently in the best interest of Imerys

  • Proficient experience with SAP, Google Sheets and Docs, and Excel

  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities with ability to actively build and maintain critical relationships internally and externally

  • Attention to detail with excellent organizational and planning skills

  • Travel approx 15%
