The global shift toward cleaner mobile energy and electrification is reshaping the industry, creating new demands for low-emission technologies and greater sovereignty in critical raw materials. Imerys is supporting this transition by designing advanced mineral-based enabler solutions for sustainable mobility, renewable energy and decarbonization.

Our portfolio for the energy transition spans conductive additives for lithium-ion batteries — including next-generation nanotechnologies — polymer additives for automotive lightweighting, mineral-based filter aids for biofuel purification, and conductive additives for onboard electronics.

We also support the rapidly growing solar and semiconductor markets with high-performance materials that enhance energy storage and conversion technologies.

In parallel, our strategic lithium project EMILI in Beauvoir, France, is set to play a pivotal role in securing Europe’s lithium sovereignty, ensuring a stable and sustainable local supply for the electric vehicle battery market for decades to come.

Key innovations in battery minerals and energy efficient additives

Some of our key innovations for the energy transition include:

C-Nergy® - A range of high-performance conductive carbon blacks and graphites for lithium-ion batteries and fuel cells.

CynerSorb® - A Pioneer-rated mineral filtration absorbents, designed to purify waste feedstocks in biofuel production.

HAR® - A Pioneer-rated range of high aspect ratio talcs for producing lightweight polypropylene for automotive bodywork, reducing vehicle weight and improving fuel efficiency.

ImerFlex HAR® - A high-aspect-ratio talc that can reduce air permeability in tire inner liners by 40%, specifically designed for energy-efficient low rolling resistant (LRR) tires.

Our advanced minerals and strategic lithium projects accelerate the global energy transition, enabling sustainable battery production and low-emission innovation.
