Imerys Ceramics Egypt opens new expanded laboratory — boosting customer support across EMEA
In early February, Imerys Ceramics Egypt welcomed key customers, local stakeholders and Imerys Ceramics management to celebrate the official opening of Imerys Technologies Egypt, a newly expanded ceramics laboratory. The facility marks an important step forward in how Imerys’ team in Egypt can support customers across the region — bringing advanced technical services, S&T capabilities and application expertise closer to the markets they serve.
A technical hub for ceramics across EMEA
The state-of-the-art facility will serve as Imerys’ hub for technical support for the ceramics industry across the Middle East, Africa and Europe. Equipped with the latest raw material analytical and physical testing equipment, the newly extended laboratory will be fully integrated into Imerys' worldwide network of R&D facilities and application laboratories.
With the inauguration of the new facility, Imerys Ceramics Egypt reinforces its commitment to supporting the regional growth of the ceramics industry in EMEA by providing crucial technical support, cutting-edge R&D capabilities and application development expertise to enhance customers' product performance, operational efficiency and carbon footprint.
Held on February 4th, the inauguration event was well-attended, bringing together approximately 40 key customers and important local stakeholders with Imerys Ceramics Management to mark the occasion.

Sanitaryware development and technical support (EMEA)
The center will serve as the primary hub in both MEA and Europe for developing next-generation formulations and process enhancements specifically tailored to support customers from this growing sanitaryware market.
Building on Imerys’ extensive sanitaryware expertise and capabilities, the new facility will provide sophisticated services and technical support — including full sanitaryware body testing, casting performance and cracking tolerance analyses — amongst others.
Ceramic Tile development and technical support (MEA)
The facility will concentrate on research and development activities aimed at advancing tile body and glaze and engobe technologies for MEA markets. Services encompass full porcelain tile body and engobe analysis, including materials testing and new product validation, as well as providing expert guidance to enhance the efficiency and quality of our customers’ tile production within these territories.
Tableware technical support
Harnessing specialized expertise from Imerys’ tableware operations in France and Germany, the new laboratory will also be in a position to support tableware producer customers in the region. Technical services include full body and glaze analysis, raw material assessment, and on-site support to optimize production efficiency and final product quality.

Imerys Kaolins de Bretagne in southwest Brittany hosted an open day to commemorate its 120th anniversary, bringing together the general public, site employees and their families, customers, representatives of local associations, local elected officials and other important regional stakeholders. The day also marked another significant milestone for the company's future, since it coincides with the renewal in 2023 of the prefectural order authorizing Imerys to continue its mining activities at Kaolin de Bretagne for a further 28 years.
