We are very proud to be recognized again in 2025 by the CDP among the global environmental leaders. It reflects our relentless efforts to transparently disclose high-quality data about how we decarbonize our operations and value chain. It also highlights our progress towards achieving our 2030 climate and environmental targets and our efforts to strengthen water management across our operations.
Decarbonizing our industry is key to helping our customers create sustainable value. Our ambition is clear: align our industrial operation with the 1.5°C trajectory. It is challenging. We stay humble and focused on following our science-based, robust and rigorous approach that is validated by the SBTi. Thanks to the hard work of our teams and the close collaboration with our customers and suppliers, we are well on track to achieve our 2030 mid-term targets.
Since 2021, we have:
- We reduced our Scope 1 & 2 emissions by 28% on track to our 2030 target of 42%*
- We reduced our Scope 3 emissions by 15% on track to our 2030 target of 25%*
At Imerys, sustainability is fundamental to our purpose and integral to how we drive value and resilient growth. Earning recognitions like the CDP A List for Climate and B for Water reflects the dedication of our teams globally as we accelerate our contributions to a more sustainable economy through our essential mineral solutions.
In 2025, we signed two regional renewable electricity Corporate Power Purchase Agreements (CPPAs) for our US and European operations. We also implemented local energy efficiency and carbon reduction projects, including a heat recovery system in Schmelitz, Germany, and solar panel farms at our sites in Vizag (India), Ipoh (Malaysia) and Wuhu (China).

CDP scored over 25,000 companies globally in 2025, and provides the leading scoring system for companies, cities, states and regions taking action on the environment. The best-performing organizations are awarded a place on CDP’s annual A List, to celebrate their work on climate change, deforestation and/or water security.

We announced today the signature of a ten-year Corporate Power Purchase Agreement (CPPA) with ENGIE, a global leader in low carbon energy and services. This contract will both allow ENGIE to supply annually the grid with 200 GWh per year of renewable electricity in Spain and contribute to the equivalent of 24% of our operations annual electricity needs in Continental Europe.
Imerys has signed an important 15-year Corporate Power Purchase Agreement (CPPA) with French renewable energy provider, Akuo, to source approximately 30% of its electricity needs in the U.S. from renewable sources. This strategic partnership involves the construction by Akuo of a 153 GWh solar park in Texas and marks a key milestone in Imerys’ journey to decarbonize its activities, in accordance with the trajectory of limiting global warming to 1.5°C.
China’s electric vehicle (EV) market continues to experience exponential growth, with over half the population projected to drive fully electric or hybrid vehicles by 2025. Inaugurated in October 2023, Imerys’ talc processing plant in Wuhu China is now successfully fueling the Chinese automotive market with the essential mineral solutions it needs to drive its transition towards more sustainable mobility.
Using peanut shells as a source of energy? This is one approach we are implementing through our decarbonization lever: Fuel switching and Biomass use. We have launched a comprehensive program to identify, assess and implement projects to switch from fossil fuels, such as coal and heavy fuel oil, to natural gas (a fossil energy source that releases lower GHG emissions) and to biomass waste.
