Launched in 2018, SustainAgility articulates Imerys’ comprehensive approach to doing business in a way that creates positive value for all our stakeholders. It was updated in January 2023 to better reflect their evolving expectations.
Creating sustainable value for our customers
More and more, our customers want the products they buy to be sustainable. We help them by continuously improving our practices to make our products and solutions as sustainable as possible across the value chain. We also provide comprehensive sustainability information about our products so customers can make educated choices when they buy from us.
Lowering our greenhouse gas emissions
Our climate change strategy is aligned with the 1.5°C trajectory. We are taking specific steps to significantly reduce our CO2 emissions by 2030 as well as those along our value chain.

Our activity naturally has an impact on the living world, giving us a major responsibility to treat the environment with care. Sustainability related documents
Imerys has signed an important 15-year Corporate Power Purchase Agreement (CPPA) with French renewable energy provider, Akuo, to source approximately 30% of its electricity needs in the U.S. from renewable sources. This strategic partnership involves the construction by Akuo of a 153 GWh solar park in Texas and marks a key milestone in Imerys’ journey to decarbonize its activities, in accordance with the trajectory of limiting global warming to 1.5°C.
Imerys minerals are found in over thirty industrial sectors, serving as essential ingredients in a broad range of applications—from cosmetics and construction to energy transition initiatives. In these fields, regulations and client expectations are increasingly stringent regarding environmental protection and health standards. Our goal is to help our clients get the most out of our solutions by enhancing their positive contributions to society and responsibly managing any potential negative effects throughout their entire life cycle.
China’s electric vehicle (EV) market continues to experience exponential growth, with over half the population projected to drive fully electric or hybrid vehicles by 2025. Inaugurated in October 2023, Imerys’ talc processing plant in Wuhu China is now successfully fueling the Chinese automotive market with the essential mineral solutions it needs to drive its transition towards more sustainable mobility.
We have partnered with inland shipping company NPRC to use renewable fuel powered barges for the transport of our minerals from our Antwerp terminal in Belgium to our customers in Northern Europe.
