The Position

Process Development & Innovation Director

Job Summary

Role's mission:

Leads the PM EMEA & APAC Science and Technology development efforts for new process innovation, in accordance with Imerys, PM EMEA & APAC BA strategy and Market Priorities

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for developing the necessary technologies in process innovation for NPDs with support of PM EMEA Business Area markets and transfer pilot knowledge to industrial implementation teams if Capex needed

  • Works closely with Market VPs to drive priority “process innovation” projects with a focus from short to medium term projects

  • Ensures tight coordination with PM EMEA Operations from TRL7 to CER

  • Leads high performance team through appropriate management rituals and attracts, develops and retains team members in his/ her perimeter (beyond direct reports)

  • Responsible for embodying a Collaborative Approach, specifically collaboration with other BAs for common process projects (RAC)

Accountability

  • Technology Accountability: efficient use of resources to deliver timely technology process solutions

  • Pilot plant safety and asset acquisition and maintenance

  • Team and people growth (incl. coaching and development plans of direct reports)

Competency:

  • Seasoned S&T (R&D) or Process or Geology senior Manager

  • Technology master , process or mechanical Engineer and/or geology engineer

  • Strong interpersonal skills and communication; ability to collaborate in a matrix organization

  • Experience managing scientists and/or technical teams

  • Product development from idea to capex  and/or industrialization

  • Demonstrated capability to deliver results in a challenging environment

  • Business acumen and rigorous approach

  • Extensive internal & external networks in “grinding” machine builders

  • Creativity 

Ideal background/ experience

  • PhD in Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical or Mechanical Engineering, and/or Geology master

  • 15+ years of work experience
