Imerys announces a new investment to support the fast growing market of lithium-ion batteries for electric vehicles

Imerys, a global leader in graphite & carbon solutions, announces today that it will expand its carbon black production capacity at its plant in Willebroek, Belgium, to meet the increasing demand for its specialty conductive additives in particular for lithium-ion batteries.

This investment of €60 million over a two-year period follows the capacity expansion of synthetic graphite announced last September at its plant in Bodio, Switzerland, both aiming to support the strong growth of the electric vehicle market worldwide.

With a unique portfolio of natural and synthetic graphite powders, conductive carbon blacks and tailor-made dispersions, Imerys will continue to develop innovative materials for safer and higher-performing batteries in close cooperation with the leading lithium-ion battery producers in the world.
