The Position

Power Distribution Technician

Job Summary

Role: Power Distribution Technician Salary: £30-£34K Hours: 37.5 M-F (7am-3:30pm)
Location: Nanpean, St Austell, Cornwall (Drinnick site)
 

The role: Are you an Electrical Apprentice or Engineer, seeking a role where no two days are the same? Come join Imerys, a World Leader in Mineral based solutions and be part of our team.


Our technicians are carrying out planned, routine, and breakdown maintenance on HV Distribution and Generation networks in Cornwall and Devon.


You will be part of the Substation team at first, working on switchgear replacement and network modifications, prioritising all aspects of health, safety, environment and quality, eventually you will work on our overhead lines as well.
 

Your skills:

● Experience or willingness to train in all aspects of installation and maintenance of HV and LV distribution equipment, including cable jointing and termination, protection systems and metering.
● Experience in all aspects of 3 phase industrial wiring and maintenance including motor control circuits.
● Ability to work alone or as part of a team.
● Ability to work at Height.

What we ask you in return:


● Completed an electrical indentured apprenticeship or equivalent
● A full driving licence (ability to tow trailers would be an advantage)
● Willingness to work extended duty or out of hours as required 
● Ability to work both indoors and outdoors

Qualifications & Experience: It would also be desirable to have;


● Experience and qualification in Electrical Testing
● Experience and qualification in PAT testing
● Knowledge and understanding in Fibre optic networks.
● Knowledge understanding of Overhead Line Networks.
