The Position

Global Category Manager Logistic

Job Summary

Eurohub, the logistic platform of Artemyn, located in Antwerp, is designed to handle large volumes of different kind of minerals arriving from overseas origins and destined for European customers or production sites. The facility handles over 1 Million tons of minerals in dry or liquid form and uses transport solutions of all logistics modalities. The Eurohub is the base for the Artemyn Kaolin Europe and Asia Supply Chain Team, responsible for contracting and operational coordination of all Artemyn Kaolin Europe and Asia Sea Freight and Production activities.

Operations

  • Supervise globally all logistic related spend and suppliers in close cooperation with the Supply Chain teams worldwide, covering all means or transport and driving the strategy in line with the business objectives

  • Operational management and coordination of the Kaolin Deep Sea Freight and related activities. The core activity is transatlantic bulk shipping.

  • Operational coordination of Sea Freight related activities as stevedoring, port storage, inspection, documentation, agencies, administration of port dues, etc.

  • Monitor loading and discharging operations, mitigate demurrage and assess carrier claims or invoices on sea freight and secondary costs

  • Participate in regular reviews with carriers and other sea freight related suppliers

  • Closely liaise with internal Demand and Supply Planning Team to match shipping possibilities with the actual demand in stock movements

  • Manage insurance and damage claims 

Purchasing 

  • Participate in commercial discussions with ship owners related to the Deep Sea category

  • Perform detailed analyses of the Europe and Asia container business and assist in defining a purchasing strategy for the category

  • Assist in defining a purchasing strategy for the Short Sea business 

  • Perform Purchasing activities related to Short Sea Shipping and related categories

  • Secure accurate contract management for all shipping and related categories regarding volume commitments, rates and agreed service levels

  • Where required manage and negotiate spot market vessels for different lanes

  • Set-up, maintain and improve a system database to monitor the performance of suppliers and a price estimation tool on all Sea Freight or related activities 

Financial / Budgeting

  • Issue a monthly financial report about performance of the Deep Sea and Short Sea categories

  • Contribute to the annual financial budgeting process by submitting forecasted costs for all Deep Sea and Short Sea and related activities

  • Evaluate success and failures to improve business efficiency and secure continuous contribution to the quality and financial performance of the Supply Chain Team and the company

  • Rapidly establish him/herself as a high quality stakeholder of the Europe and Asia Supply Chain Team

Experience:

  • Higher education in International Logistics
  • 3-6 years experience in the international nautical logistics industry
  • Fluent in English and proficient in another major European language
  • Proven track record in operational management and in cost controlling
  • Strong understanding of the operational environment in the international logistics industry in shipping and containers
