The Position

Sustainability Specialist

Job Summary

The role of the Sustainability Specialist is to manage the deployment of the Imerys’ Product Sustainability program (that is part of the overall Imerys SustainAgility journey) within the Business Area (BA) Performance Minerals EMEA (our BA representing €1.5BN of sales roughly across 80 plants with a presence in +20 countries). The core purpose is to deliver towards the Group sustainability objectives and add value to our business.

Give key data and statistics (4 or 5 at most) that characterise the results, means, and activities upon which this position has a direct or indirect influence : turnover,  gross margin, budgets, tonnage, number of subordinates, number of customers, geographical zones concerned.

Scope:  All markets and functions within EMEA for the Performance Minerals BA

Nature of customers: Internal customers (within the BA and within the Group functions associated with the BA), external stakeholders (industry associations, etc.) and especially end customers of the BA to respond to requests on products (LCA, carbon footprint etc.)

Interfaces: Corporate Sustainability, Product Stewardship, Environment, S&T, Sales & Marketing, Product Management, Communication


KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

[Deployment, progress towards objectives]


- Ensure the development and roll-out of the BA product sustainability programme applied to Imerys portfolio and new products using the SustainAgility Solutions Assessment (SSA) methodology including:
>> the deployment of the Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) roadmap: perform and/or coordinate with consultants the LCA of PM EMEA products according to the roadmap
>> the assessment of Imerys Portfolio against sustainability criteria: organize and participate in cross-functional workshops to assess Imerys portfolio
>> the review of sustainability deliverables required by innovation process to check alignment with Imerys sustainability criteria
- Support innovation teams to generate sustainability related data for strategic new product developments & process innovation projects
- Support market teams to answer product-sustainability requests from customers
- Contribute to the CSRD (Corporate Social Responsible Directive) implementation.


[Continuous improvement]


- Collaborate with product management and market teams to prioritize and identify projects to steer Imerys products towards improved sustainability performance
- Collaborate with BA market teams to analyze sustainability-related trends associated with BA markets
- Collaborate with the Product Sustainability team (Corporate and other BAs) to share good practices and feedback on the tools and methodology
- Knowledge management and external networking to bring experience and develop Imerys expertise


[Training, communication & awareness]


- Deliver training on Product sustainability related topics (LCAs, SSA framework) within the BA to ensure understanding and alignment on priorities
- Collaborate with communication & market teams to promote sustainable solutions
- Support the Sustainable Development Challenge (Imerys’s internal contest to award best sustainability initiative) coordination and participation, by identifying potential initiatives and support to teams with submissions as necessary.
  


JOB SPECIFICATIONS

Education: Ideally Scientific background, engineering / environmental science majoring degree or master's degree in sustainability / environment

Experience: 3-5 years in an industrial environment and / or first experience in coordinating sustainability Initiatives such as Life Cycle Assessment highly appreciated

Language: English fluent, other languages are a plus

Passionate and self-motivated on sustainability topics
Strong data management and analysis, with the ability to organize, compile, interpret and present effectively
Ability to collaborate and work effectively across functions, with a various range of stakeholders
Strong communication skills with ability to communicate to all levels of the organization]
Ability to handle a variety of tasks/initiatives
Ability to facilitate meetings, workshops and provide trainings
