The Position

Procurement Specialist

Job Summary

Job Summary

Issuing POs to vendors; providing lead times and ETAs to internal customers; inventory management, and other associated administrative functions. 

Job Responsibilities

  •  Identify the least total cost supplier for Company requirements. (Best combination of quality, quantity, delivery, service, and price) 

  • Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in written format across all levels of the organization and with external vendors and suppliers. 

  • Locate suppliers, negotiate pricing, delivery, invoicing, and other terms as required

  • Manage daily issues with accounting, delivery, receiving and other departments.

  • Oversee all activities related to the request, sourcing and purchase of equipment, supplies and services for the purpose of ensuring compliance with established Purchasing Policy, Internal controls and audit recommendations 

  • Facilitate development of productivity and savings pipeline 

  • Support budget development for key purchasing areas (packaging, chemicals, energy, spare parts, industrial services) 

  • Coordinate the bidding process for new contracts 

  • Seek and support initiatives which simplify or reduce transactional  activities (EDI, ERP functionality, reorder points). 

  • Focus on opportunities for synergies among plants 

  • Maintain positive, professional supplier relationships 

  • Manage current and new vendors to include new vendor qualification process  

  • Support purchasing requirements and Initiatives  

  • Assist in annual supplier audits. 

  • Ensure internal control processes and policies are followed.  

  •  Interface across all departments and levels of the organization. 

  •  Professionally resolve problems (both internal and external) in a fair and ethical manner. 

  • Work independently on a day-to-day basis.

  •  Manage workload for most efficient use of time and resources. Provide excellent service. 


 

Skills and Attributes Requirements

  • Professional demeanor. 

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interact with all levels of the organization 

  • Work requires continual attention to detail in composing, typing and proofing documents materials, establishing priorities and meeting deadlines. 

  • Must be extremely organized, with the ability to multitask and prioritize. 

  • Good analytical skills required.

Education/Experience Requirements

  • High School diploma with related work experience (below), Bachelor's Degree preferred

  • Proficient in Google Workspaces and AX or SAP

Related Work Experience

  • Minimum of five (5) years performing similar as primary duties & responsibilities as outlined above and relevant business experience such as procurement, negotiations, supply chain, contract negotiations, operations, consulting, quality
