Jetfine 1 is a high brightness grade from Imerys which has been developed using proprietary, micronizing technology to produce superior dry hiding and TiO2 extension in decorative paints and to reduce overall cost formulation. With a top-cut of 5µm and a median particle size of just 1µm, Jetfine 1 talc is currently the finest talc* grade available on the coatings market.

Its fine particle size makes it highly effective as a partial replacement of titanium dioxide in both low and high PVC paint formulations. Due to its highly lamellar structure and ultra-fine particle size, Jetfine 1 talc enables TiO2 levels to be reduced by between 10% and 30% with equivalent paint performance.

In low PVC paints, Jetfine 1 talc combines TiO2 extension with excellent outdoor durability. In high PVC decorative paints, its high oil absorption and specific surface area significantly improve dry hiding and enable you to eliminate TiO2 completely, while still achieving high opacity and brightness.

Jetfine 1 talc makes an excellent alternative to other extenders, such as opaque polymers and synthetic aluminum silicate. We recommend it for outdoor and indoor coatings; semi-gloss, satin and matt coatings; VOC-compliant alkyd paints; and water-borne varnishes and clear coats, where it provides higher transparency levels. 

As Jetfine 1 talc is made from naturally occurring, chemically inert minerals without additives, it’s exempt from EU REACH registration and compliant with EU Ecolabel criteria.
